In need of replacement channel balances

A quick learner from Snohomish WA says:

Hi all -

Please find photos attached for some broken channel balances I'd like to replace. I measured the length of the metal case of the balance at 33". (despite the designation "32 5 KQ Caldwell").

Do you have replacements for these?

Thank you

Neil

Thanks for writing in! Your balances appear to be either the S380-33 with a 1" shoe or the S385-33 with a 1-3/32" shoe. To determine which series is needed for your window, look over the dimensions from the diagram below to confirm the depth of your bottom shoe. Let me know if it does not match either measurement.

You'll need to select the 3250 stamp.

Hi, thank you for that added detail.

I am seeing that the measurement is 1-3/32", so that places this as the S385, with the 3250 stamp.

I had one more related question. Attached to the window sash itself there seems to be guide of sorts that is associated with the channel balance. I took a picture, but this one appears to be broken. I was wondering if you could help identify a suitable replacement?

I've attached the photo.
Thank you!

Hi Neil,

I'm happy to help! The part you are searching for is a top sash guide. It helps to guide the balance in the window channel and prevent it from shoot up out of the channel.

To be able to identify the best possible replacement, I'll need to see a photo of an undamaged version of this top sash guide.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,

I removed one of the working windows to get a good look at the top sash guide. Attached is the photo I took of it.

Does this identify which guide it is?
Thank you!

Thanks for the photo. Your top sash guide is no longer made but our 18-188 is worth considering as a replacement. Take a look at the dimensions. Compare them to your existing guide to see if this might be a fit.
