Locks for 21 year-old aluminum swing out windows

A home owner from USA says:
Measurements:
2 1/4 inches hole to hole
2 3/4 inches wide
3/4 inch deep
1 inch deep with tongue out The 90-005 looks like it may fit though the tongue is shaped a little differently and description of lock does not say what the measurement is in depth with the tongue out. This is important or it will not fit properly under the lip of the window edge. Could you please measure one of these and let me know? As stated, it cannot protrude more than one inch total depth.

Thanks,
Pat

Hi Pat,

Thanks for writing in! Given the placement of the installation holes on your lock, the 90-005 would not be the right fit for your repairs.

Your sweep lock more closely resembles the 90-313 Deep-Set Sash Lock. Although, I cannot confirm if the "tongue" on the lock is the same, since yours is retracted into the lock. Take a look over the dimensions and the design, carefully compare them to your existing lock to determine if this might be a better fit.

Thank you. The "tongue" on this lock looks totally different from mine (no hook). See photo. Also, I don't know how far it protrudes out. Can you tell me? Mine protrudes 1/4 inch.

The hook protrudes about 3/8 of an inch from the lock. However, I do believe this should work well as a suitable replacement for your repairs.

A home owner from USA says:
That's almost 1/2 inch protrusion whereas I only need 1/4 inch past the 3/4 inch base depth so in my thinking, it would be too long to fit under the lip of my window. Thanks for your thought.
