The handle for our sliding glass door has broken. The handle turns to lock the sliding door. I tried to upload a video as well showing how the door works, but it wouldn't upload. The door pulls in and then over and to close you slide it to the right and then push in and lock. I have not been able to identify the manufacturer of the door.
We moved into the house just short of 2 years ago and our local door and window store had never seen a handle like this. The home was build in 1979 and I am assuming that this is the original sliding door.
Any help you can give as to if this part can be replaced would be very much appreciated. The lock is hard to open and it is our hope to keep it this way as we have a built in pool and grandchildren that could not open the door.
Thank you.

Hello, Your locking handle is normally used on windows, not on Patio glass doors. If you haven't already, it may be a good idea to check with a neighbor to see what type of handle they have on their door. I'm not sure if it will work on your patio door, but take a look at our surface-mounted 82-005 handle set used on sliding patio glass doors. Look it over and see if this could be used as a replacement. Thanks for posting! |
