Old Block and Tackle Balance??

A contractor from North Charleston, SC says:
Hi,

I've included photos of the removed balance. Currently I do not have access to the home or any installed photos. Please if you can help this would be most ideal.

The overall length of the balance is about 29 inches
The spiral portion of the spring is roughly 16.25 inches. (Photo 20230pul_165809.jpg)
The pulley portion is roughly 11.25 inches (photo 20230523_165835.jpg)

When installed the balance sits in a channel in the window frame and is held I place toward the top of the channel by a screw that goes the center of the black plastic part(refer to photo 20230523-165926.jpg).

The void in the piece where the window latches in is about 5/16 deep.( refer to photo 20230523_171518.jpg)

Jasmine from SWISCO responded:

Thanks for reaching out! You are correct, this balance does resemble a style of the cross-bow balance, however, you'll need the Series 775 Channel Balance as a replacement.

Specifically, you'll need the S775-29 with the 1-1/4" shoe. To confirm the stamp needed for your balance, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of your window. There is a chart below the project description for the 29" balance, that displays the weight ranges each stamp will support. You'll be able to use the window weight to select the stamp option for your balance and shoe size.

Let me know if you have any questions.
