Part ID

A home owner from DAVENPORT, IA says:
Hi, I was washing my windows today and theis one would not go back in. It seems the parts at the bottom are broken. I understand from.ypur great tutorial how to find the type of spiral part, but I am really unsure how to identify, measure, and install this part. Would you be able to help? I'm hoping I can fix this myself rather than paying someone. Thanks so much!

Thanks for posting. This part is called a pivot shoe. Yours is likely either the 15-178 or 15-188. Pivot shoes are identified by their general design, as well as their width and thickness. These two pivot shoes have the same width, but the 15-178 is 17/32" thick, while the 15-188 is 1/2" thick. You'll need to remove your old shoe and compare to see which matches what you have. The video below shows how to remove and replace pivot shoes. Let me know if you have any other questions.
