Hello there. Going off your description, it sounds like you have the S600-28 Spiral Balance. Most likely the 'orange' tip is just a red tip that's faded with age. A red-tipped spiral balance of this design is meant to support a window sash in the weight range of  7 through 29 pounds. This part is called a shoe, yes. Unfortunately I can't verify what you need based on these photos. The S600-28 balance is compatible with many different options, so the only way to narrow them down is to measure the width and thickness of the original. That will require removing it ahead of time.
