Replaced Window Balances

A quick learner from Rochester, NY says:
Hello,

My replacement window is no longer staying open. I believe I need to replace both window balances on my Gorell G5105 windows. No idea what window balance I need. I've included pictures.

Thank You,
Todd

Hi Todd,

Thanks for posting! Your coil balance housing looks like it could be the 15-087 Coil Housing Pivot. To confirm, you'll need to remove it and carefully compare the dimensions shown below.

This coil housing is compatible with the Series 180 Coil Balance anchored to the window channel using the 16-024 Mounting Bracket. To determine which spring is needed for your housing, you'll need to look for any stamps/marking on the metal coil.

If there are no stamps/markings or they cannot be read and/or cross-referenced, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash. You'll then take the sash weight and divide it by the total number of coils in the window.
