I have 14 large (54" x 68"/72") Simonton replacement windows installed at my property in 2007 timeframe and long past the warranty period. The pivot bars on almost every window have sheared off at the third screw hole. I understand that Simonton no longer makes this pivot bar (likely under designed for this size windows) and I purchased a replacement pivot bars from Swisco part #
26-366 which has the same dimensions at the previous part but the flange on the pivot bar that is on the shoe insert end would not fit into the pivot shoe as a result of the flange. It appears to me that the circular flange inserted into the rectangular pivot shoe slot would simply rotate inside the pivot shoe rather than rotating the pivot shoe itself, unless there is a new replacement pivot shoe that is slotted to accommodate the flange so that the rectangular part of the pivot bar engages the pivot shoe when inserting the window sash horizontally and rotating up into position.
Should the new pivot bar fit into this shoe? Is there a replacement pivot shoe (brass/metal) that will accommodate the
26-366 pivot bar that I can insert into the shoe carriage assembly? Or if I need to replace full pivot shoe assembly. Please let me know which ones are the proper parts that I need to get the windows back into operating condition.
Would appear to me that this is manufacturer (Simonton) design flaw. Are you aware of any Simonton recalls or other claim situations for replacements programs of these parts?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
