Spiral balance identification

A home owner from Westchester County, NY says:

To Swisco,

I have to replace many spiral balances. However, they are old and not color coded as the new ones are. I am hoping you will be able to help me identify and supply the balances I need.

The metal cylinder is 27 in long and ½ inch wide. I have also attached a photo of the end part.

Thanks in advance,

Jessica

For your wood sashes, you will need our Series 500-27 spiral balances with a red tip along with our 17-012 brackets as well. These brackets hook on the balance spiral. To install these balances, you would drop them from the top on to the side of the sash. Use a screw, like our 33-017, to attach the balance tubes at the top. Now, raise the sash and have someone hold it up while you attach the 17-012 bracket and 33-017 screw while the U-shape opening corrals the spiral. With your finger, bring up the spiral to the bracket and attach a charging tool, like our 75-005, and turn the spiral clockwise three turns. Next, hook it to the fork of the bracket. Repeat the other side and try the sash. If the sash creeps down, raise and hold up the sash and give the balances another turn or two. Let us know how this works out for you.
