Window spring balancers

A quick learner from New Bern, NC says:
I'm seeking replacement spring/balancer on double hung vinyl windows. Each panel has 2 springs, the top piece that holds the coil spring has a "B" cast into it. The bottom receiver appears to be some sort of alloy.

Hello,

Thanks for posting! Your exact pivot shoe is no longer made but our 15-177 Coil Balance Shoe will work as a suitable replacement. I am confident this is the replacement you need but take a look over the dimensions below to confirm that this is the right replacement for your existing coil balance shoe.

This balance shoe is compatible with the 1/2" Thick Series 152 Coil Balance. This is secured to the shoe using the 33-072 Philips screw. To determine the spring strength you'll need for each spring, you'll need to check for any stamps/markings on the metal coil.

If there are no stamps/markings, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash and divide it by the total number of coils in the window. This number will give you the spring strength you'll need to select from the list of Series 152 coils.
