block and tackle balance and accessories

A home owner from Chicago, IL says:
My jamb liner double hung tilt windows have pretty much two (top and bottom) identical sashes, each of which weights 22.6 lbs. I have balances that have two different stamps, one is 30HD G.S.I. GL and the other DB 30HD. I suppose they are the same and I want to know if S751-31 with 30HD option is right for my windows.

I also want to know, for extra parts, if your cam pivot pair 26-150 and knife lock shoe 15-014 are the right choice for my windows.

Thank you

Hi there, Mike.

Thank you for reaching out to us. It appears your balance's shoe is the 15-197 which means this will have to be a custom order. However, your 30HD stamp is calibrated for a sash weighing 23 to 29 pounds. Have you ever had any issues with operating this window? Custom orders are nonrefundable so you could always re-weigh the sash to be safe. If it is indeed 22.6 pounds, you may want to go with the 30R stamp. A pair of balances with this stamp will support a sash weighing 15 to 23 pounds. Let me know which stamp you'd like to go with and the quantity you'd like to purchase and I can draft a price quote.

The portion you're referring to on the 26-150 isn't a screw hole, no. It's just the way the pivots are designed.

Emily,

Thank you for your information.

The existing balances work fine I mean the springs don't seem to me too strong. I'll order the 30HD stamped. Let me just order as it is without customizing. I'll order extra locking terminal 15-197 in case 15-014 doesn't funcation well.

I wonder if the pivot pair 26-150 will work - the space is bigger than the base of the pivot 26-150; do you think one screw can hold it well? Do you have pivot pairs that are closer in size to my existing parts with two screw holes?

Your advice is appreciated.

The 26-150 is the closest part we can offer, unfortunately. However, we do find that it works fine with one screw, we use it all the time.
