window balance and shoe

A quick learner from high falls ny says:

The balance has marking 240 BSI. it is 24 inches long, 1/2 wide, 1/2 deep.

The shoes in the photo are broken on top so I am not sure what that should look like. I need to order 6 balances and 6 shoes. Also 2 latches that are similar to photo.

the shoe measurements are

  • 1 1/4 wide
  • 1 1/4 height
  • 1/2 deep

Pivot bar also needs replacement: 2" long

I've been looking for weeks. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Annette

Hello, Annette. We can definitely help you with these parts, though your balance has to be custom made because of its configuration. Let's address that last, though, since it's the most involved. The other parts are a lot easier.

See our 15-216 pivot shoe, 26-021 pivot bar, and 90-095 Andersen brand lock. Carefully review the dimensions we show on each part's respective store page and let me know if they differ in a significant way. I think they'll all match, but you can never be too safe.

For the balance, can you show me a clear picture of the stamp printed on the metal channel? I've never seen one with that marking before and I want to be 100% sure. Can you also tell me how many you need?

The pivot bar and shoe are correct. Can you recommend which pivot bar housing can be used with 26-021.

Thanks for getting back to us. That stamp is just what I wanted to see, but I still need to know how many balances you wanted to purchase. Quantity has to be pre-set ahead of time for these purchase links, so I can't send it without it.

As for a housing for the 26-021, that's a tricky question. The 26-021 doesn't often use a housing. There are a couple that could work, like the 26-451, but I have no idea if it would fit in your sash. I'd have to see the original housing to know what to recommend.

A quick learner from high falls ny says:
For the balance, I would need 4.
