identify channel balances

A quick learner from Kansas says:
Have a non-tilt 1970s window that had broken channel balances. Would like some help identifying proper replacements.

There were no take out clips on the window, and no empty slots that we could see where they should have been. The window was stuck in a crooked position so I'm sure we damaged the channel balances further when trying to remove them & the window.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for posting. This balance appears similar to our S710-17. Check it out and let me know if you agree. Your window should have slots for a take out clip. Double check the track, especially near the top of the window. Also see our video, which may give some clues as to what to look for.

Yes, it looks like that balance may work, however I do question the whether or not the shoe portion is the same. The shoe portion that sticks out on the window side does not appear to be wider than the aluminum frame of the slide. My shoe is wider than the aluminum frame. Any suggestions on which shoe I need? Thanks!

The Series 710 uses our 15-003 as its shoe. While it looks a little different from yours, it's the same depth. In my personal experience, I've never had a problem using the 15-003 in place of the old shoe. These shoes have a very simple function and don't need to be identical as long as the dimensions match.
