SWISCO - The Replacement Hardware Authority

Locking sweep lock vent lock

A home owner from Richmond California says:
Hello Swisco,

I have double hung, double tilt vinyl windows.

I'm looking to replace several broken sweep locks but I'm having difficulty finding a matching or close fitting part. These sweep locks themselves lock in the closed position requiring a thumb to press a button to allow the sweep lock to open. Closing the sweep lock does not require pressing the button. These sweep locks are some kind of metal. I have images I can send if given an email to send them to.

Second question... is Product Code: 26-362 good for existing window but new installation? My concern is I have seen cross sections of other vinyl windows and the vinyl holding the glass never looks to be completely hollow. How will routing into the side likely effect the integrity of the window?

I would like to order both replacement parts together if possible.

Thanks for your help.

The 26-362 vent lock is not meant for new application, it is only for replacement.

It sounds like you have a sweep lock with a safety device on it. We currently do not have any of those in stock but we can take a look into bringing them in for you. Attach an image to your new reply post and include any names or markings you see on the lock in your post.
A quick learner from Richmond California says:
If you find these, I'll let you know how many left side and right side I'd need.

Attached are 2 photos.

I could take one off and photograph underneath and also photograph with a ruler next to it. I took these photos before I found your site.

All that they say is LOCK and OPEN.

Thanks, Chris

Can you provide dimensions for the window lock?

I know we weren't able to identify your window lock, but you may want to take a look at the newly added 26-387 Vent Lock Kit, which can work with any hung or sliding window.
