phillips window balance

A quick learner from Oregon says:
length over all 21", length of steel 20", only mark 19 2 DQ CALDWELL. This one broke. Do I nees to replace one or both?

Thanks for posting. We usually recommend placing both. As balances get older the spring's resilience wears out. If you just replace one, the newer balance has to work extra hard since the old spring wouldn't be as strong. Replacing both ensures that they each have an equal load. Plus, you can always save the old working balance in case of emergency repairs.

Based on your photos, I would recommend our S385-20 channel balance. I would also recommend our 1920 option. Review this part and see if you agree.
