replacement handle 82-044

A quick learner from three rivers Mi. says:
I have 2 sliding doors on my house and I am Having a problem with thepull handles breaking. When someone swings the door open too hard the handle is breaking at the screw holes, cracking the metal from the outsides to the mounting holes. Is there another handle that i could use that may wear better? One is already broke and the other is cracked.I could order new 82-044 handles BUT I would like to know if there is one that doesn't hit the stationary door when opened. Is there a cure for this problem??

Tom from SWISCO responded:
Actually, I don't think the handles are the problem in this instance. I think you might want to consider cleaning and lubricating the rollers and the track, or maybe even replacing the rollers entirely. Handles breaking is a common symptom of issues with the roller and track.

As for the replacement handle, you could consider our 82-042 as a replacement as it just goes straight up and down.
A professional from California says:
It sounds like they need a bumper like 80-022.
If that's not long enough, I have used a short PVC pipe or another bumper to extend the length.
