stamp model and shoe questions

A quick learner from Ocala, FL says:
Thanks for your help! My 30" balance is stamped 29-9 JA2 CMC 2. It is a fairly wide and heavy window. Also, the shoe and top pieces don't look exactly like the 15-002 bottom shoe and 19-002 top shoe that you have pictured. I've attached pictures of mine. Thanks again!

Hey, thanks for posting. I've narrowed this down to two possible channel balance Series: either our Series 380 or our Series 385 balances.

Now, as you can see, there is only one difference between these two Series, and that is their bottom shoe. The Series 380 uses the 15-005 while the Series 385 uses the 15-004. I can't quite tell what you have based on your pictures, though. Please carefully compare their dimensions to your own hardware and see which is a better match.

Thanks so much, Tom. That bottom shoe is definitely the 15-005. But the top looks different from the 19-005 top that goes with the series 380. Mine doesn't have the same pointy end. Do you think it will still work? The 1/2" width and 11/16" depth match, but I don't see a height measurement on your 19-005 page. Mine looks like 1 1/2". Thanks again!

I think the Series 380 is still a good place to start. The 19-005 is a very simple piece and doesn't need to be an exact match to still work. All it has to do is catch the take-out clip and, in some cases, steady the balance in the jamb with its wing tabs.
