Dave from SWISCO responded:
We do not have an expander for a 1-1/4" thick door. Possibly have a contractor or you can shorten the height of the door by adding a piece of wood trim across the top of the door to bring down the height.
A contractor from AL says:
First of all, they do not make doors the way they used to, which was better than today. They have skimmed wherever they can to save money and charge more for the door. They have also made the door thinner than the original 36x80 1-1/4 inch thick door that was more heavy duty than the ones you can get today. They have even shortened the door which also creates installation problems when replacing an existing storm door, especially if you have vinyl siding, you don't want to shorten the frame and have to cover a gap at the top and, in a lot of cases I have seen, you do not want to shorten a door by any measure to begin with as some appliances must have that extra inch or two just to get them in your home.
