storm door replacement mortise set

the 40-049 lock set-- our storm door ( unknown manufacturer)is about 1 3/4 inches wide. will this lock set fit our door.

I do not know if the 40-049 can work for you. I'm afraid there is more to it than just the door width. Do all the other dimensions match? Is the style the same? If it differs in any way, I will need to see a couple pictures of your existing handle set along with detailed measurements compared to the 40-049.
