swisco 82-002k won't latch

A home owner from USA says:
Hi I have a swisco 82-002K that won't latch on. I heard this is a common issue with this type of lock. Do you have any tips to make it work properly?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
Not sure what your exact problem is, but it could just be a matter of adjusting the keeper. Another problem could be you do not have the correct tooth/hook (see 82-202 for example) installed in your lock. The 82-002K comes with a couple different kinds.
A professional from California says:
I've had trouble with these staying locked also.
Use your own judgment whether this might work for you.
What I have done to fix it:
1) Cut the hole in the door where you see the tooth about 1/4" lower. I use tin snips to cut the sides then bend back and forth a few times and the piece will break off.
2) move the strike down the same 1/4".
