tip color for balance

A quick learner from Warwick,NY says:
the tips on my spiral balances are white. the windows are from the 1950s I am guessing series 400 spiral balances but not sure of what tip color to buy.

These balances look like they are for a wood window back in the 50's. We've always used our Series 500 balance for them, which has a 5/8" diameter outer tube. Please confirm the size of your outer tube, since the Series 400 is only for smaller 3/8" diameters. Remember, you want the diameter of the outer rube, not the naked spring.

I would also recommend the 17-012 bracket and 75-004 charging tool.

As for the tip color, it would depend on the weight of your sash. Do you know how heavy it is?
