my old wool pile is crushed, cannot get accurate measurement of height of pile. Don't know if I should use product code 58-001 or58-002

Without knowing the size of your original pile, I'm not really sure what to recommend. The 58-002 tends to be more popular with window companies but that's no guarantee. The only way to know the best option is by measuring as best as you can. See if there's an identical window in your house whose weatherstripping might be easier to measure.

There is no way to know what size you need without measuring the original sample. If it is not possible to measure it, you will have to use your best judgement.
