Remove handles, escutcheon plates, and key cylinder. Remove mortise screws from edge of latch assembly.
Position a standard screwdriver behind the edge of the mortise plate, near the top. Using the door itself as
leverage, wedge the latch assembly out at one end. You will feel some resistance as you overcome the plastic
retaining spring.
Repeat previous step to remove the opposite end of assembly. Note: the mortise plate may bend.
