I have a hinge 3" long 1" wide and need a pin replacement. I may be measuring wrong but the diameter of the opening for the pin appears to be 1/4". The old pin included two bushings, two metal pins and a spring(similar to above but smaller). These came with a door manufactured by "Carefree", of Indiana, which has gone out of business. If you do not carry such a part would you please offer a suggestion on where I might go for such a part. Thank you.

I was not aware that Carefree manufactured a hinge type door, I thought they only made sliding doors. Any how, recheck your measurements maybe the 40-165 hinge pin repair kit will work for your application. This is the only hinge replacement kit available at this time.

i have a storm door that is called a forever door, i can't find a model number on the door. My problem is the pins that hold the glass pane in place. A couple of them are missing and the others are not holding the pane in place. I can't seem to find replacements anywhere. I don't know how old the door is, it was here when I purchased the home three years ago. I have been trying to find the parts and had no luck. What other information can I give you that would help to figure out how to replace the pins.

Do you mean the latches or clips that hold the glass sash into the door? Take a look at the following Forever door latches 91-092 and 92-093.

I have a forever storm door and the hinges are busting off, i noticed the hinges are completely different than a standard door. The serial number is 68144. Can you help me with a quick fix?

My suggestion would be to use standard hinges and just try to improvise them to work for your application. Possibly put the hinges in a vise and try to bend them to meet your application. You can also try to contact the door's manufacture and see if the original hinges are still available.

I have several cottages - all with storm doors that are nice and heavy duty but all have hinges that tend to open up and release the pins and springs. There is not one mark or name to identify the manufacturer. On one, i found a paper label with a model number and serial number but still no name. The model number is 3FA4 200 36X80 BR R. Of course, the 36X80 BR R is for the size, color and right hand. Does the 3FA4 200 tell you anything? The hinge attaches into the recessed area of the edge, and contains the pins(hex shape with round end) and spring. The pins compress and slide into the frame where there is a cutout section for each hinge. High winds push the door to its swing limit and that opens up the C-channel part of the hinge where the pins and spring are. With enough of a spread, the pins pop out and the door comes off the frame. I would like to find replacement hinges because bending the old ones closed causes them to crack and open up faster.

The hinge is the Achilles' Heal on Pre-Hung/Z-Bar doors. It is hard to say who manufactured the door. Two manufactures that come to my mind are EMCO Forever Door (which was bought out by Anderson Windows) and Cole Sewell (which was bought out by Pella or Larson Doors). Here at Swisco we do have a hinge 40-148 that I have used on repairs. However, depending on the specific door I did have to make some adjustments to make the hinge work properly.
