Product Description
This is a Series 171 spring for tilt windows. It moderates the operation of your window sash using a specifically calibrated coil spring that allows the window sash to stay open when raised and remain shut when closed.
  • Individually, this coil balance can hold 6 pounds. This is added together with the other coils to support the whole weight of the sash.
  • This coil is stamped with number 406.
  • Measures 3/4" thick.
  • Designed to work with the 15-192 pivot shoe (sold separately).
  • This coil balance spring is sold individually, not in sets.
  • Can work for either the left or right side of the window interchangeably.
  • Coil balances are also known as constant force window balances.
  • Has a long tongue, meant to install on the top of a pair of coil balances. (If you have only one spring, see our Series 170 instead)
  • This constant force balance is used in CertainTeed double hung windows.
Good Idea!
Balances are sold individually, however, it is a good idea to replace both window balances at the same time. Pairing a new balance with an old one would cause the new balance to wear out faster.
