Overall external window size 1190mm X 900mm
Overall internal size Height - 1110mm
Internal Widths are stepped so external side eg. top sash - 790mm
internal side eg. bottom sash -815mm
Top sash 785mm X 562mm - weight 27.5 lb - length of existing pulley spring channel 482mm & code stamped on is 1917 DS

Hey there, Gordon! Your windows are admittedly a weird design, but your balances look very similar to our Series 770 channel balance. They have the same terminal clip at the end of the cord and seem to install and function exactly the same way. Look them over and see if you agree.

If I'm reading your post right, you have two pairs of balances, each with their own stamps: the 1917DS and the 2117 stamp. The 1917DS is 19" long and the 2117 is 21" long.

So far so good. That would be our S770-19 and S770-21, respectively.

The problem we have now are those stamps, though. Our Series 770 balances seem to use a totally different rating system than your originals. Your sash weights also seem pretty heavy; the strongest weight option we have for the S770-19 is 19D, which carries only 18 through 21 pounds. For the S770-21, that would be the 21E, which only carries 22 through 26 pounds. Both of these are under the weights you gave, which are 27.5 pounds and 29.5 pounds, respectively.

I think these two balances will have to be custom made with heavy-duty springs. Please give me a little time to look into that and I'll get back to you ASAP as to whether that will be possible.

You also mentioned keys for the sash lock, but that is unfortunately not something we carry.

Please bear with us a little longer as we look into those heavy-duty springs for you!

Thanks Tom

Much appreciated !!! yup they are quite heavy sashes , No worries about the keys . Typical LOL !

I have a fair stock of hardware & weights etc for timber sash and case , but pvcu is still a new beast for me even after 35 odd years in the trade .

If it helps the springs seem to be doubled eg a smaller one inside the larger .

Hello again! Thanks for the additional information. I see those double-springs all the time, but in this case I think we can get away with using a more standard type that just has a heavier calibration.

For the S770-19, we would use the 19G stamp, which can carry 26 through 29 pounds. For the S770-21, we would use the 21F instead, which carries 26 through 30 pounds.

Based on the given sash weights, I think these options will be perfect. However they will have to be custom made since they aren't stock options. It bears mentioning that custom balances are non-refundable. I highly recommend reviewing our Series 770 just to make sure everything matches up. I think it'll be fine, but better safe than sorry.

For now, I'll email you one purchase link and price quote for each size. These will allow you to add 2 of each balance to your cart, which is our minimum. If you wanted to adjust those quantities at all, just let me know and I would be happy to do so.
