Using the 70-200 for another purpose

I have a question about the Jalousie Clip Set. I want to use it for another purpose. Would I have to tap a hole into metal to screw the clip into or could I use some type of locking nut. What piece is it designed to screw into?

The screw that comes with the 70-200 is a 10-32 self tapping screw. You might just need to drill using a #21 drill bit and the screw should make it own thread way into the metal. Try it on a test piece of metal first.
