Alliance Windows - Pivot Shoe

A home owner from Ocean City New Jersey says:
I am trying to find replacements for broken pivot shoes in a few of my Alliance Windows. I would also welcome instructions on going about replacing the pivot shoes as it appears that I'll need to make a cut to remove the existing pivot shoes.

It's tough to tell as it is very banged up, but this might be something like our 15-175. I'd compare with an undamaged pivot shoe, preferably out of the window, to confirm.

A home owner from Ocean City New Jersey says:
Please see the attached photos of an undamaged pivot shoe/spring taken out of the window. Also, can you tell me what replacement spring I might need. It measures 1/2 inch. The springs are fine now. I am just planning for the future.

Thanks for getting back to me. This looks like a 15-175 Pivot Shoe. This shoe uses our Series 152 Coil Balances. Let me know if you have further questions.

A home owner from Ocean City New Jersey says:
Thanks Bob. Please remind me how to determine the correct coil balance to order. I don't recall seeing the number on the coil balance. I have replaced the coil balance on other manufactured windows in the past but forget the measurement. Is it the weight on the window sash divided by 2 that determines the weight of the coil balance to select?

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Correct, the exact sash weight, divided by 2, will tell you how much weight support you need on both sides of the sash. Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Thanks.
