Alside Window repair?

Home Owner from Greensboro, NC
Hi hope you can help

the part in the picture is broken on 4 windows.

Also on the same windows, the part where the widow is attached to the frame is breaking. It seems to be made of a brittle metal of some kind, it is heavy for its size...hope it is not lead.

I hope to be able to fix 4 windows that are broken myself. then maybe I should consider replacing the same parts on the remaining windows. I think that would be 7 more.

The windows may have come from 2 different installers....but the inside of the windows look the same
Thanks
David

Hi there David.

This appears to be a tilt window spiral balance like the 3/8" Series 900 or 9/16" Series 600. You'll have to measure the outer tube to determine the best match.

You can reuse the pivot shoe if it's in good shape. If you need a new one, we'll have to see it removed from the window along with the written out thickness and width.

As for the breaking frame, I'm afraid we can't help with something like this. Your best bet may be to contact the original manufacturer of the window, whoever they may be.
