Anderson double hung counter balance spring

Question

I have Anderson windows in my home. Some of cords to the counter balances are broken.
I was going to replace the counter balances. the problem is I don't know if they are Anderson windows or Renewal by Anderson windows. My question is : Do both brands use the same type counter balance? I suppose the only real way to tell is to remove the windows from the sash and look.

If your windows are showing cords, then you probably have genuine Andersen windows, not Renewal. Review our video on Andersen block balances for a guide on how to properly remove these.

Once the balance box is out, I recommend that show us a photo of each stamp printed on it. That would allow us to narrow down the list of possibilities.
