Balance stamp 26 4 GN CALDWELL

A landlord from Oregon says:
I'm trying to match the existing balance units in my windows. The existing balance in this case is stamped 26 4 GN CALDWELL. Would this be considered a match to the 2640 stamp referenced in the S380-27 options?

Casey from SWISCO responded:
It may, to check remove the window sash and place it on a scale.
The S380-27 with stamp option 2640 will carry a window sash weight range of 19 through 26 pounds.

This information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
A quick learner from California says:
I'm considering to purchase S380-27 and have two questions. 1. Those I try to replace has a stamp, "26-4 DA2 CMC 4". Should S380-27 match those? 2. Are the balance cord and the terminal clip attached to each unit when it is shipped? Many thanks in advance

Tom from SWISCO responded:
Yes, they will match. When ordering the balances online, select the S380-27 with the 2640 option. The balances are shipped complete and ready to install.
A quick learner from California says:
To ensure a smooth replacement and operation, should I also replace both Top Sash Guide and Take Out Clip? Or, would S380-27 fit the existing sash (26-4 DA2 CMC 4) without a problem? Thank you for the information!

Casey from SWISCO responded:
You only need to replace the top sash guides or take out clips if they are broken, brittle, or missing; it would be a good idea to keep a pair of top sash guides on hand in case one does break upon installation of the new balances.
A home owner from NY says:
My balance is stamped 24 4 Caldwell HM. The cord broke and I need to replace it. Is this a stock item or special order

Paul from SWISCO responded:
You will need to replace the entire balance, not just the cord.

If you can't identify the appropriate replacement, submit a few photos of your balance attachments and any markings you may find on the balance. Also include the length of the channel portion of your balance.
A home owner from 92887 says:
Why can't I replace the broken cord in a channel balance, there are no other broken parts and the balances will still be the same matched pairs. I think it is unnecessary to replace the whole unit.
A home owner from North of California says:
My channel is stamp 27 4 GN caldwell please let me know whitch one I need and how many per wendow do I need. I need for 2 widows. Thank you.

Casey from SWISCO responded:
27 4 indicates the length of 28" and the weight stamp option of 2740. We can help you determine the series of balance you need if you send us some photos of both ends of your balance.
