Broken window spiral balance

A home owner from Fort Worth, Texas says:
Where can I get parts and directions to repair my windows. I have two windows number H-R40-48x72 manufacture code HRW-1. The tube is 30" long and 3/8" diameter. The window does not come out from the housing. I appreciate any help you can give. Would I be best to hire the work done?

It looks like you might have an S400-30 , which is a 3/8" Spiral Balance used with non-tilt windows. Please compare. To know what Color Tip option to pick, obtain the exact weight of the window sash. You can then match that option with one of the weight ranges listed alongside each Color Tip option under the product description.

The Series 400 typically uses a bracket like our 17-031 or, with wood windows, the 17-030 . The bracket cradles the balance beneath the sash. This blog article here goes into some detail about how to replace non-tilt window spiral balances. It's certainly best to have help when installing these balances, and if in doubt, a local pro is never a bad idea.
