Certainteed Furr Weatherstripping

We have just bought a home that has Certainteed vinyl windows and the weatherstripping at the bottom of the top sash where it meets the screen unit is shedding like cat fur. The length of the fur is an unusually long 1/2 inch or so. It's really anoying as the wind will blow the fur into the home in clumps and in the kitchen it lands in any food laying out.
