Channel Balance ID Help - Missing Balance
The original balances are missing and I have no other similar windows to use to assist with identifying the balances.
This is the only information I am able to provide:
It's 24.3 LBS and 42x30 with one inch thickness.
Hi there!
In cases like these, we usually recommend using an identical window's balance as a reference. However, as you said, you don't have any similar windows in the house. Unfortunately, we won't be able to help without seeing pictures of your original hardware. There's just too many options and we need some type of reference to go off of.
Hello! Emily isn't here today but I can help you out from here.
Based on this new batch of images I think your balance looks like a dead ringer for our Series 395. The only question now is length.
You gave the overall size of the sash, but that's not actually used to calculate the length of the balance. Instead, I would like you to tell me the height of the visible glass. Ignore the sash frame, just measure the glass. Please do that for both the sash that's missing its balances and the sash that still has its balances. I can use that data to determine how long the part you need will have to be.
The other one where I have the balance 2140 is 3ft3inch width and 1 ft 8 inch height.
Thank you. So that would be a 27" visible glass height for the window that is missing its balance and a 20" visible glass height for the balance that already has it.
That's actually a little peculiar; a 20" visible glass height indicates a balance length of 21", but your original is 22" long instead. That's 2" more than the visible glass. Not typical at all, but if that's what's working then we can go ahead with it.
Using the same logic, you would want a 29" long balance for the 27" glass. That would be our S395-29 with a 2840 stamp option (since your sash is 24.3 pounds).
I have to emphasize that a 2" difference is strange, though. 1" is far more common. With that in mind you can also consider our S395-28 with a 2740 stamp.
Those are your two options at this point. Without the original balance as a reference, that's about as far as we can narrow it down. The ultimate choice will be yours. Just know that there is no guarantee one way or the other that either balance will be a perfect fit, these are simply my best guesses based on the data available. If you want peace of mind, you can see our return policy here.
