Is that metal bar a half-inch wide? If so, this is a Series 380 or Series 385 balance.

Measure the bottom shoe as shown below to tell the difference. Series 380 has a 1" shoe, and Series 385 has a 1-3/32" shoe.

You can measure the metal bar to determine the length of the balance. Select the right length from the Series webpage, and then your only remaining step is to choose a weight option.

Sometimes "28D" is the same as a SWISCO 2840, usually offered on 29" balances like S385-29 or S380-29, but you need to weigh your window sash and measure the metal bar to be sure. Check the weight option chart on the webpage for the balance you ultimately decide on. That chart tells you which option to choose for your sash weight.
