Home Owner from Hanover, PA
Hi, I need to replace the channel balances in a whole house. However, I don't know which ones I need. It is labeled 940, has the 19-002 type top & the 15-003 bottom 21". Please help!

Thanks for posting! I would like you to clear up a few things. First, you say the stamp is 940, but the length is 21". With a stamp like 940 the metal channel should be 10" long. Alternatively, if the metal channel is 21" long the stamp could be something like 2040 (among others that have "20" as the first two digits). Can you please confirm?

Can you also confirm that you have the 15-003 shoe? This is not that common and it may be more like our 15-001 or 15-002. Keep in mind that these shoes can wear down over time, so you may want to account for that when you measure the depth.

Sorry, after cleaning it is 2040 19-002 but it does look like 15-003 bottom. Other windows have the 15-002. How do I order units? Do I order tops & shoes separately? Once I know what type, what is the fastest way to tell w/o window disassembly?

We can custom make a balance for you with the 15-003 shoe and 19-002 top attached. As for how to identify what balances other windows have, the only way to know is to remove the sash and examine the balance itself. You will especially want to do this if you've already noted that your windows all use different Series. You can then cross reference what you see with our selection of 1/2" wide non-tilt window channel balances to find the best match. The balances found on this page all come with the attachments already installed.

If you're confident you have the 15-003 shoe, we can email you a custom order link. Please let us know.
