Hello! This looks like it could be either our Series 160 or Series 165 coil spring. The only difference between them is thickness; the Series 160 is 1/2" and the Series 165 is 3/8". You'll have to measure yours to confirm which one will fit.

Hello, I recent purchased two of these springs and successfully installed them into my window frame with the 1/2" Coil double support and 17/32" pivot shoe. However, when I replaced the window and moved it up I found it tracked slowly and stiffly and when I removed it again I found that one of the coil springs had broken off at the end that attaches to the pivot shoe.

I realized that the shoe on the opposite side of the window frame is not moving well when unlocked and that perhaps this is placing too much weight on the new springs. Can you advise as to how to proceed? I am a novice at window repair and sort of stumped at this point.

It is possible that the old pivot shoe is damaged or jammed in the track in some way. My first suggestion is to remove the pivot shoe and check it for any obvious signs of damage, such as a cracked housing or missing pieces. While it's out you may as well clean and lubricate your track to ensure that no debris is gumming up the works; for lubrication, I recommend a silicone spray (which you can get at any local hardware store).

If the shoe is undamaged and in one piece then there's a good chance the major issue was that it was jammed. In that situation, cleaning and lubricating the track should hopefully fix the issue. You can test how it slides in the track without a coil spring by using a screwdriver to unlock it and move it up and down.

If the shoe is damaged, then there's your culprit. Show me a couple photos of it and I'll do my best to match it up. The Series 165 is compatible with a ton of different pivot shoes but we carry most of them, so I'm sure we have what you need.
