Cover for coil balance

Home Owner from San Marcos, CA
Starting off with just this photo because I don't want to take apart a good window coil balance yet if I don't have to. Wondering if you carry this exact white plastic cover thing and maybe even if you know what the coil balance under it should be? This is an original one in my bedroom window. I don't have an old one from my broken window to show. I have tried a few different ones on my tilt window but when I try to raise the window the window hits the coil balance and cover and for some reason the new set up I bought not only gets hit by the window, the pivot shoe won't allow the window to stay up. It just drops back closed. I have tried a few different pivot bars but none help it operate correctly. Thanks!

If you don't carry the plastic cover in the first photo I sent then I was wondering if you carry the plastic cover that would fit over these balance coils and shoes?

Thanks for reaching out to us. We don't sell that exact white plastic cover, unfortunately. We do sell the shoe and spring, though; those would be our 15-175 and Series 152, respectively. We do sell covers for the Series 152 but they're a newer style and I would wager they are the same as what you got with your new hardware: the 15-143 and 15-144, along with the 15-145. These parts all kind of "sandwich" over the spring.

I'm not sure why your window is bumping into the new cover, though. It's not like your old cover is particularly shallow in the track. Can you go into more detail about that? What part of your window, exactly, is hitting it? Can you also show me the new style cover, assuming the parts I mentioned don't match?

Another question I have is, the dual coils on these I ordered 2 of the same coil for each shoe but I think I read someplace that the coils should be different so the top one fits correctly over the bottom coil. The way I have it, they are not in good alignment. Can you advise on that?see above photos.

I think I know what you mean. There are some coil balance assemblies that are designed so that the top coil has a longer "tongue," allowing it to reach down further without much effort.

Unfortunately, these coils are not designed like that. You just have to do it the old fashioned way, which is screwing the spring to the shoe and stretching it up. Trust me when I say that this can make it a little awkward, since they're still under tension and liable to get away from you, but it can't be helped. That's just how these are made to work.
