How can you tell if a spirial balance is broken or may have just slipped off? I have two larger windows that have the same problem. It looks like the clasp came loose from the window frame. I inspected working windows and I can see that the clasp clips onto the bottom of the window frame. I recently sold the home and this is one of the items noted that I need to repair. Please let me know if pictures or details of the balances will help with your advisement.
I am having a very hard time finding the correct tool and given the holidays I'm having a tough time trying to find someone who can inspect the balance. Is there a way that I can try winding the spirial balance and then clip it to the windows?
Did my balance break or just slip off?

Yes, typically when a spiral balance fails there is a chance that recharging it will fix the issue. Depending on whether your windows are tilt or non tilt, I would recommend our 75-006 or 75-005.
If that doesn't work, though, then the entire balance will need to be replaced. If you'd like, you can take a few pictures of your balance, especially the spiral and the end piece, and we can help you from there.
