I purchased a Papaiz storm door replacement and the facade pieces on the inside / outside of the door required an internal material to screw into; said another way, one side did not connect to the other.
Do the screws connecting the inside / outside face plates connect to fit a door like this (assuming L-W-H dimensions fit)?
Does this model fasten independently?

The exterior handle in the set you purchased should have had screw bosses that allow the interior and exterior handles to join together. It would be pretty odd if they didn't.
That said, it's difficult to say based on your photo. Would it be possible to see the hardware in question? Would you also happen to have the older handle set on hand, still? That would give us a better idea of what you're working with.
