Exterior Lock for My Door handle

A quick learner from USA says:
I've found some very useful information on your site. Thank you!
However, I'm a total novice of this world of hardware and I think I need a little more step by step instructions or recommendations?

Attached, please find images of my current sliding glass door handle. It works well, but I really need to install an exterior locking mechanism.
Is this something I could handle on my own?

Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

Hey, Alison. This handle set looks a lot like our 82-035. Is this what you're considering? If so, our 82-309 can be used as a keyed lock for it. However, it's a little frustrating to install. If you want to go that route, it might be better to contact a local locksmith to do it for you.

Alternatively, you could consider our 82-031 handle set along with our 82-310 key cylinder. This is much easier to install, as all you have to do is knock out the hole in the exterior pull for the 82-031 and insert the 82-310.
