Hello, I'm seeking replacement parts for a double hung window. The white plastic piece that is used for pressure fit to hold the window up/open has degraded from the sun and broken apart on many windows. I'm not sure if there is a spring behind the white plastic piece or not. Does this also need replacing at the same time?

Hi Lauren. This is called a coil balance system. Simonton windows use a few different kinds, so the only way to know which you need is to remove your old one for inspection. I specifically would like to know the following:
- A picture of the pivot shoe that the coils attach to. The identity of the pivot shoe tells us the coil balances you need.
- The thickness of the coil springs inside that housing in your photos.
- Any stamps on the coils.
From there I'll do my best to ID what you need.
