1. The plastic part where the metal window feet fit into the spiral balance is broken. will the entire spiral balance need to be replaced? (see fourth picture)
2. Can you identify the metal feet?
Unfortunately there aren't many markings on the parts other thank:
Where the metal foot connects to the plastic part of the spiral balance it has "550C"
Thank you for your time!!

Hi Bryan. So it looks like you need to replace your pivot shoe and pivot bars. The pivot shoe is the bottom plastic piece that connects the spiral balance to the window sash. The pivot bars are the metal bars that extend from the window sash and into the cam of the pivot shoe, enabling you to tilt your window. We can help you replace these parts, but it would be best to see the undamaged versions of each out of the window. For the pivot shoe specifically, the width and thickness of the shoe would also be very helpful. For the pivot bar, any dimensions, especially the distance from the center of the mounting holes to the tip that inserts into the pivot shoe, would be crucial to narrowing down the right replacement for you. If you need help removing both your pivot shoe and pivot bar, watch the videos below. Finally, if the window still opens and closes normally, you shouldn't have to replace your balances as well. |
