Fitting of Product Code: 58-178

A home owner from Middle of Nowhere says:
Are Lengths of Product Code: 58-178 sold in anything larger than 38" lengths?

For runs longer than 38" does one just butt the ends together. Should butt ends be fastened together somehow?

What is the purpose of the notched ends?

Any tips for installing these? They tear while pulling them through the groove. Any lubricants that will ease this process and not impact the rubber?

Many thanks!

Unfortunately, Pella does not provide the 58-178 to us in any alternate lengths. That said, you can just butt the ends together, yes. As for replacing them, they should just push into the groove where the old ones install. I'm not sure why the old ones are tearing, they shouldn't be held in all that firmly. The original installers may have used adhesive. You could try using an awl to work out the old kerf.
