This looks like a pretty typical non-tilt spiral balance. I recommend either our 9/16" diameter Series 500 or the 3/8" diameter Series 400. Look these two products over and see what you think. You'll have to measure your original to confirm the better match.

I am curious about the "clip" or whatever attaches to the bottom of the window. From the pictures I sent, is the spiral balance missing something at the bottom? How is the clip removed from the bottom of the window, if it is really broken? As I mentioned in original request, the unit tube is 30" and 3/8" dia. Are there different options for the bottom attachment method?

Those clips are actually a huge pain, to be perfectly frank. We do sell a ton of different kinds, which you can see here. The problem is that these window sashes are not designed to come out in any way, shape, or form. The various companies that make this type of window would in fact prefer that you buy a whole new window from them instead of trying to repair it with tiny, inexpensive parts. They don't make any money if you're just buying little clips, after all.

What that means is that you actually can't take these clips out without removing the sash, and you can't remove the sash without disassembling the whole entire window frame. My recommendation to you is try to make do with what you have, or else you have a big project on your hands. If you really find that you can't get these to work at all, then I recommend contacting a local professional to come out and help you. It's not worth trying to do on your own if you've never done it before.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
