Help with pantry door parts

Quick Learner from Orlando, Florida

Our pantry door was installed in 1983! It finally fell off and although I can get both pins back on track on top and they seem to stay, the BOTTOM pin is too short and no matter how tenderly I open and close the door it keeps coming out! Frustrating! (However, it is a great door to last this long!)

It is hard to get a picture, but I hope this helps!

Thanks,

Barbara

Thanks for reaching out to us, Barbara. We appreciate your patience during this busy season.

So, your pin and bracket both look to be in good condition, so I'm not sure why they're coming undone when you operate the door. I admit that this particular style is not familiar to me (probably because it is for a pantry) but it does look like it operates under the same principles as your basic bifold closet door. I'm wondering if maybe the pin is spring-loaded and that the spring is perhaps stuck or jammed, keeping the pin in a constant upright position.

That would be my first guess. Another idea is that the bracket is worn in a way that's not immediately visible, causing the pin to slip out. I think this is a lot less likely but it is a possibility.

Finally it could simply be that your pin itself is broken in a way I can't see. You may want to remove it from the door and examine it yourself to be sure. If my first guess is right then it would at least get the spring unstuck (assuming it even has one).

All that said I have to stress that I am not familiar with pantry door hardware like this. I don't think any of our bifold door parts will work as replacements but if you wanted to examine them you can see our selection here.
