How does the 10-053 bullet catch work?

how does the ball stay in? is there a spring inside?

Thanks for posting. The 10-053 Bullet Catch is a force fit; that is, once installed in your closet door, they will be locked in. The ball is held inside of the cylinder with a spring, and catches on the strike plate in your closet door.

Thanks, now I understand it is called a "bullet catch" The catch is still inserted in the door top. I unscrewed the insert and measured how deep it is. The width is 1" and the depth is 1 1/4".
