It looks like the 58-164 will work in my mothers windows. My question is how does it fit into the groove? You can't slide it in from the side as the side of the window is there so is it flexible enough to slip in from the front?
Thanks
Jim
How is the 58-164 installed?

Hey, Jim. Let me guess: the channels that hold the weatherstripping are sealed on either end? Usually, in situations like that you can ease the "T" slot in with a putty knife, but the 58-164 is pretty stiff so I don't think that's going to work.
Could I maybe see some pictures of the sash and the channel that holds the weatherstripping? That may help us come up with a solution for you.

Here is a photo of the window channel.
I was thinking that it may be possible to cut the side of the channel for the felt strip that is along the side (I removed it for the photo) but the window frame is still pretty close and don't know if the 58-164 will bend enough to get it into the slot.

The only thing I can think of is to unscrew the frame and pull it apart just enough to clear a way to slide out the old stripping and install the 58-164. It's a pain, but it may be your only recourse.
