IWC Patio door latch/keeper

A home owner from Sonoma County, California says:

My Patio door closes just fine and the alignment "seems" good, but it must not be because the latch bumps the keeper when I try to close the latch. Then it doesn't fully extend and latch. The workaround is to start with the latch extended and down, (lever halfway) and finish it off after closing. Guests can never figure it out, however.

As you can see on the keeper I've tried filing/grinding the right edge to no avail. The keeper needs to move a bit more to the right, but the base is in the way.

Is there another solution?

It definitely sounds like the problem is with the mortise lock, not the keeper. The keeper looks fine. First thing I would try is adjusting the mortise lock. See the slotted screw directly under the top phillips installation screw? If you turn that, it will push the mortise lock further in or further out. See if that fixes your problem.
A professional from CA says:
Usually the issue is the height of the keeper.
It should only catch a little of the hook. Around 3/16"?
If the keeper is as low as the instructions say, it will never work. Sometimes adjusting the depth helps.
It may also be hitting the sides, but if that was the problem, your half-locked solution probably wouldn't work.
Sometimes getting it just right takes a lot of fiddling.
