Junque Window Issues

Home Owner from Westminster Colorado
I am not sure of the manufacturer or the name, but should be "Junque" or something similar. I'm not in a good place to replace the windows so I am looking for a temporary fix. All the windows are double-hung and a vinyl construction. Problem: since day one, about 6 years ago we had our house built and the problem began. Builder messed with a fix until the warranty expired and now I am on my own. I believe by design, the windows are supposed to to remain where they are placed in the open position. The lower window works and remains where placed. There is nothing obvious, other than friction, to hold the upper window from following the lower window when closed. Short of a dowel rod under the upper window to support it, (which I am not in favor of)
I am looking for suggestions. Thanks, Rich

I've never heard of the Juque brand, unfortunately, so I do not know what kind of setup you're working with. Based on what you describe it sounds like an issue with the old balances, which are usually spring loaded mechanisms on either side of the window that moderate the operation of the sash. You say yours are friction based, which tells me these windows are particularly old, but I'll get to that in a bit.

We may be able to help, but I will require photos of what you have in there now. That will give me a better idea of what you're working with and whether anything we sell can repair it. If you're using friction hardware to hold your windows up then these windows are approaching ancient, like I said before. That means we may not be able to help, but I will do my best.
